Making Picks
Where Did My Picks Go? Print E-mail
Where you can view all the picksAn important part of making your picks:  you need to hit Save (or Apply) from within the Pick Screen.   If you don't do this OR if you go have lunch and come back to save them, they MAY not be saved.    Rule of thumb:   After you hit Save you will see all of your group members along with number of picks you made.    If you don't see the correct number there for yourself, then your picks were not recorded.  Also, after the 1st game starts, you can go to Group Standings and view the picks for your group.    This is also where you can find the Print Pick Sheet option that's handy, both to documnt your picks and to keep track while you're watching the games.    When picks are saved, activity is recorded in a log file.   If you think you made them, and if there is a corresponding "Picks saved" for your ID, we will investigate and resolve.   If however we do not see said activity, then the leader of the group needs to contact us to remedy the missing picks.   (FYI:  Current timeout here is 2 hours.   That means a you have 120 minutes to click Save or Apply after you enter the pick screen)

What If You Do Miss Making Your Picks? Print E-mail
This is kind of the benefit of being here.   League.com is run by a small group of people that are actively involved in the development.  As a result, you can send us an email and we'll generally write back, sometimes even offering a solution to your problem.   In this case, if you should miss your picks for a week, we know how that feels.   It's happened to us.   That's why we
created the CT Pick Wiz for Losers feature which can be invoked only by one of us here.    How it works:

You send YOUR GROUP MANAGER a note that explains your sad story about how the dog ate your keyboard and there was no possible way you could get anyone else to make your picks because the dog ate all your phones too.    We then activate Continuum Transfunctioner Pick Wiz and your picks are magically created.    Only condition:  Your group manager must request this to us.  If they want to ding you for having an out-of-control dog, that's their call.

Bottom line, we want you to be happy here and tell others about League.com.   If that means helping you when your dog acts up, that's cool by us.

The Thursday Pick Window Print E-mail

Pick Window: Green is open Red is closedOn weeks where an early game exists, the pick window will close at kickoff, then reopen when the game is over.   Tip:  Make all your picks using the Pick Wiz, then wait until Friday/Saturday to back in to make final adjustments on the Sunday/Monday games.  Reason to use the Pick Wiz :  1) It's fast and   2)  Those are not your real picks.

Remember that should you make all your final picks before the Thursday game, all those will become visible to your group members when the picks close.

(The Pick Wiz tip only applies if you are trying to be sneaky as to not share your insight before the start of the Sunday games.   If you're just playing to have fun, then Pick Wiz it, make your tweaks and go watch some football.)

How Do I Know My Picks Are Saved? Print E-mail

Your Group should be visible In deleting lots of data in prep for the new season it's possible that you will see an error message when getting back into make picks.   That's not normal and we plan to fix that, but -- just in case, we wan't to address it.

Here's what you want to do to make sure all is well with you and your picks.

1.  After you are logged in, look for your group name to be visible in the League Info area on the left.   You need to make sure you are pointing at your group.

NOTE/APOLOGY:  When you join a group, this will automatically be set for you.  The reason this may not be the case now (during the start of the season) is because we removed the preseason data and it was possible that your group was pointed at that data -- which is now gone.   Therefore, it's possible your account is pointing at something that no longer exists.   We'll improve this next year, but for now, you need to make sure you select your default group.

 What you should see...

Click the thing that looks like this(it should say the name of your group, not YOUR_GROUP :)     If it does not say the name of your group, then you need to either select it or join one.   Just to cover the bases, let's assume you have no default group.    To select a group, go to the Control Panel and click on the Select Groups icon.     From here you will have two options, which is a good thing:  Option 1:  Pick a group that you are already a member of or Option2:  join a group.     (In League you can be a member of as many groups as you want  -- but whatever picks you make, those will apply to all groups)

2.   Now that you have a default group... Go to the Control Panel and click on Your Group Members

When you click Your Group Members, you will see all the members of your default group in a list which includes their image, the number of picks they've made, total points they may have ...   this is where you can confirm you have indeed made your picks.   For a 16 game week, you should see a 16 in the Picks column.   In a "Thursday week", you might only see a 1 there for some of your group members.  This means they only made the pick for the first game assuming the PICK WINDOW will reopen for the remainder.

The best way to make sure your picks are saved is to click Make Picks.   This will show you what picks you have and will give you a chance to "optimize" based on what others have done.    (To learn more about how to gain insight from others, read about Pick Snooper )

Can the system automatically remind me to make my picks? Print E-mail

When games happen on Thursdays we always get a few people that write to tell us how the dog ate their keyboard and they were unable to make their picks in time.   Of course we feel bad about this, because a keyboard can be an unhealthy snack for ever the largest of dogs.

Click this firstAt the start of the season we played with the idea of auto-reminders, but went with a group controlled process instead.  For this to work, you must edit your profile to allow either text or email to be sent to you.   Here's how you do that -- after you login you would click the Edit Profile icon from the control panel.

Then slide on down the screen and click yes to at least one of these two items.

There are 2 alerts you can select

(If you click yes to text messages, put in whatever email address would hit your phone ... not just your cell number.)

Now *anyone* in your group can remind others in their group of early games.    All you need to do is click the link at the bottom of the Your Group Member screen.    (Of course in a highly competitive group, nobody would do this as missing your picks can only help the others.   However, in a perfect world... people will care about you and your picks. :)

One click and all three would be reminded
