Standings and Points
When are game scores updated? Print E-mail

Game scores are updated during the game, so pick accuracy and point totals can fluctuate before the game ends.  (So don't get too excited if you're at the top of the list and it's only the 3rd quarter)

Updates are scheduled for half-time but close games (7 points or less) are not updated until the game is final.

If you want to see what games have been scored, you can view that via Standings (blue games are unscored) or Schedule/Results.

What are point multipliers? Can they be used in only our group? Print E-mail

Point multipliersJust like in any reqular week, you make your picks and then assign confidence points.   If there are 16 games then you would assign 1 to 16.

This year we've added a new feature that allows a point multiplier to be applied to any game.   For example, if two undefeated teams are playing, we can put a multiplier of x on that game.   If you put 10 points on that one, and the multiplier is 3, you can earn 30 points, not 10.   Because tight games usually get the low points, this feature will encourage more risk taking, especially by those down in the standings.

A point multiplier is assigned by the League admin, so you can't control this within your group.   In all cases, we will post a poll before the week in question to determine if a multiplier should be used on one or more games.

What are potential points on the Your Group Members page? Print E-mail

When you click Your Group Members you will see a list of everyone in your group -- that part you already knew.  What we've added today are two more columns:  Picks and P.Points.   This is where you would go to see if everyone in your group has made their picks for the week.  But the P.Points ... those are potential points IF that person picks every game correctly.

Potential points for any given week may not all be the same because when point multipliers are used, the total possible points can vary.    While you will not know *which* picks your group made until the pick window closes, you will know how many points they could earn if they do well.

The right most column is Potential Total Points.   This would be the point total for that person IF their current week was 100% correct.   Your Group Members is sorted by this column.

What do the colors mean in the Standings page? Print E-mail

There are three colors used in the Standings page: blue, green and red.

What colors mean

Blue - Game not played (or results not yet updated)

Green - The pick was correct, those points were awarded

Red - Wrong pick, points indicated would be the potential they did not realize.

Remember, if your pick is wrong, points are not deducted.

How many points can you earn in one week? Print E-mail
Each week you pick the teams you think will win.  There's no point spread to worry about.  Just pick the favorites.  Then, for each game, you assign points based on confidence.e.g., For week #1, you would assign 16 points to the team you are most certain about. Next you would give 15 points, all the way down to 1 point.  You earn points each time the team you picked wins. So in a 16 game weekend, the most you could earn would be 136. In a 15 game weekend,it would be 120 ...
